Abstract
The wood products industry has historically been considered to be one of the most dangerous for manufacturing employees. Workers are exposed to hazards ranging from falling trees to debarkers to saws to nail guns, while often working under pressures for high productivity. Compounding the danger from these hazards are the mentally and physically challenging working conditions that can include temperature extremes and high noise levels. Fortunately, managers at many wood-based companies sincerely care about working conditions and the health and safety of their workforce.
