A collaborative effort led by the Rocky Mountain Research Station, has produced a report outlining the impact of changing climate on forest distribution, particularly that of Douglas-fir. Douglas-fir is the top valued forest product tree in the West, and understanding its ecological and evolutionary potential is necessary to understand its future commercial value.

Due to the recognized expertise and the credibility of our scientists, the Rocky Mountain Research Station was asked by the Ecological Society of America to lead the production of a synthesis of scientific findings relating to the role of forests in capturing carbon gases.
