Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

In nature, diversity is key to healthy ecosystems and the people who live in these ecosystems. Diversity in social systems is a complex reality. How is progress toward equity gauged? Who is gauging it? Diversity and interdependence are core values for the Forest Service, and to help reach these goals, Northern Research Station scientists are examining diversity, equity and inclusion within the USDA Forest Service as well as looking at equitable access to benefits from access to forests and natural areas, equitable safety from environmental burdens, and to understand the implications of past and current discrimination through the lens of natural resources.
