Attention!

The Northern Research Station has realigned our staff from 37 Research Work Units and Programs into 14 new Research Work Units.

RWU-4751 is now part of NRS-3, Ecology and Management of Invasive Species and Forest Ecosystems.

Our Mission

To improve and integrate forest operations with respect to the development of intermediate silvicultural treatments in hardwood forests of the Northeast.

Research

Our research is focused on selecting and implementing appropriate forest operations to improve intermediate cuttings and structural retention harvests for Eastern hardwoods.

This site is under development as the Forest Service brings together the Northeastern and North Central Research Stations to form the Northern Research Station, serving the Northeast and Midwest.
