Genetics, Biological Control, and Management of Invasive Species

Invasive Plants

[photo] Rosa multiflora invading a forest floor. Our research is focused on invasive plants in urban landscapes in the Northeast, including multiflora rose, Russian olive, oriental bittersweet, and honeysuckle. We are especially interested in multitrophic effects, that is, interactions of invasive plants, soil chemistry, native herbivorous insects, and insect predators such as birds. We believe a better understanding of these relationships will lead to a better ability to control invasive nonnative plants.
