Ecosystem Structure and Processes

[image:] wier on forested wateshed, at high flowWe conduct basic research to understand ecosystem processes and properties, and apply that understanding to building management systems to maintain and enhance the productivity and sustainability of forest ecosystems in the Appalachians, and at national and international scales.

We also research forest management practices to enhance recovery and standing of rare, threatened, and endangered species.
